Funeral services for Charles J. Offner, 91, of Willis will be held on Saturday, June 10, 2006 at 10 a.m. in Cashner Colonial Chapel with Father Cyriacus Onyejejbu officiating. Interment will follow in Garden Park Cemetery. Visitation is scheduled for Friday, June 9, 2006 from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m. in Cashner Funeral Home with the family receiving friends from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. The Vigil will also be held on Friday at 7 p.m.
Mr. Offner was born on March 8, 1915 in Paterson, New Jersey and passed away on June 5, 2006 in Willis, Texas. He was a veteran of WWII having served in the U. S. Army Air Corps. Charles was a long-time supporter of the Boy Scouts, first as a scout himself while a boy and later as an adult, he served as a Cubmaster and worked his way up to a District Commissioner for the Scouts. He worked for 25 years for Fairchild Space and Defense as an electronics engineer. Charles was a member of St. Anthonys of Padua Catholic Church in The Woodlands, Texas.
Charles is survived by his loving wife of 65 years, Elsie Offner; sons, Dennis Offner and wife Barbara and John Offner and wife Gloria; grandchildren, Christopher Offner, Jason and Georgia Offner, Kimberly and Bret McManigal, Beau and Michelle Offner, Angela and Matthew Leimbach, and Matthew Pallesen; great grandchildren, Moriah Offner, Matthew Leimbach, and Chyler Leimbach; and brother-in-law and best friend, Joseph Louie Cairoli. Numerous other relatives and friends also survive. Pallbearers will be: Dennis Offner, John Offner, Jason Offner, Beau Offner, Bret McManigal, and Ray Stelly.
