Funeral services for Donald Ray LeVrier, 73, of Conroe will be held on Monday, July 3, 2006 at 10:00 a.m. at Mims Baptist Church in Conroe. The Reverends Gene Kendrick and Lewis Price will be officiating. Interment will follow in Conroe Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be held at Cashner Funeral Home, 801 Teas Road, Conroe, on Sunday from 5 to 9 p.m., with the family present from 6 to 8 p.m.
Mr. LeVrier was born to Fred Thomas and Helen Nora (Kressley) LeVrier on November 21, 1932 in Houston, Texas and peacefully passed away at home surrounded by his family on Wednesday, June 28, 2006, in Conroe, Texas. He served his country in the U. S. Marine Corps from 1949 to 1953 during the Korean War and was honorably discharged at the rank of Sergeant. Beloved husband to Peggy LaMerle McRae for the past 52 years, whom he married in 1954 in Jacinto City, Texas. They moved to the Conroe area in 1967. He worked for the Houston Fire Department for 27 years, retiring in 1980 at the rank of District Chief and then worked for the Conroe Fire Department for 15 years, retiring in 1996 at the rank of Captain. Prior to going to work in Conroe, he worked for the Houston Port Authority serving on a fireboat in the Houston Ship Channel. This gives him a grand total of 43 years in the fire service, putting his life on the line for others. Don was a Baptist Deacon and a long-time and faithful Sunday school teacher. He was a member of the Gideons International Conroe chapter for 17 years. He was a devout Christian all of his married life.
He is survived by his wife, Peggy LeVrier of Conroe; son, David LeVrier and wife Alesia, and their three sons, Alex, Sam and Zach, of Houston; son, Stephen LeVrier and wife Claudette, and their two children, Bradley and Brittni of Conroe; son, Michael LeVrier and wife Debbie, and their four children, Matthew, Michelle, Julie and Timothy of Houston; daughter, Susan LeVrier and fiancé Bill Wismar of Daphne, Alabama; step mother, Margaret LeVrier of Bella Vista, Arkansas; sisters, Betty Jean Blakley of Livingston and Mavis DeMars of Warren; brothers, Tom LeVrier and wife Jan of Quitman, Arkansas, John LeVrier of Houston, Mark LeVrier of Lockhart, Elton Bryant and wife Gayle of Warren, Marvin Bryant and wife Merrill of Houston, and sister-in-law Betty LeVrier of Madisonville. Numerous other relatives and friends also survive. He was preceded in death by his father, mother, and brother Fred Fritz Claude LeVrier.
