Funeral services for Martha Sams McCoy, 92, of Conroe will be held on Saturday, July 15, 2006 at 10 a.m. in St. Mark Lutheran Church with Pastor David Quail and Pastor George Borghardt officiating. Interment will follow in Conroe Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation is scheduled for Friday, July 14, 2006 from 5:00 to 9:00 p.m. in Cashner Funeral Home.
Martha was a wonderful wife and the most loving and giving mother, grandmother, and mother-in-law anyone could ever have. She was dedicated to making a great life for her family, helping others and serving her Lord with her church family. God has blessed us with your presence. May you now rest in His peace.
Martha was born on October 24, 1913 in Rosehill, Texas and passed away on July 12, 2006 in Conroe, Texas. She lived in Conroe since 1949 and worked in Food Service for Conroe I.S.D. from 1950 to 1978. When she retired in 1978, she was the Assistant Director of Food Service for Conroe I.S.D.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 45 years, James Donavan Sams; her parents, Meta and Edward Hillegeist; and brothers, Norman and Lawrence Hillegeist. She is survived by her husband, Luther McCoy; daughter, Minnie Sams Bennett, who loved her with all of her heart, and son-in-law, Walter Bennett Sr., who loved and treated her like his own mother; beloved grandson, Walter Bennett Jr. and wife Cynthia Bennett, whom she also considered her granddaughter; three beautiful great grandchildren, Bradley Christian Bennett, Ashley Kathryn Bennett, and Morgan Margaret Bennett, all of Huntsville, Texas; sister, Darlene Harsch of Hockley. She is also survived by a step-son, Jeff McCoy and wife Dana of Conroe; step-daughters, Joyce Ham and husband Randy of Conroe and Mary Ann McManus and husband Jack of Waco; step-grandchildren, Jeffrey McCoy, Kevin McCoy, Tyler Ryan, Travis Ryan, Justin Ryan, Austin Ryan, Lisa Guzman and husband Martin, Danny Spates and wife Angela, Melanie Holmes and husband Bill Holmes; step-great grandchildren, Jacob Schreiner, Gabriel Garcia, Manuel Garcia, Joshua Bustamante, Anna Rose Guzman, Audrey Elizabeth Spates, Shea Ryan Cherry, Jessica Copeland, Halie Holmes and Billy Holmes. Many nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends also survive.
Martha leaves behind a legacy of love, kindness and sacrifice for her family, all of whom loved her dearly. She was an angel to everyone and will be missed greatly.
